"fraudulent food becames a metaphor for political lying"
![]()
In a desperate attempt to shore up his faltering administration, an obviously strained and worried President Bush holds a plastic turkey, heartlessly forcing our sullen soon-to-be-slaughtered soldiers to participate in a cynical election-year public relations stunt...

"faltering administration" - i hardly think so at this point. in fact it seems to me he's getting close to suring up reeclection. he's a domestic democrat and a hawk on foreign policy. who is going ot beet that?
secondly, this "stunt" strikes me as politics as usual. i mean clinton pretended to be married for eight years. there's just a certain PR aspect that is inevitable.

Bush is having the time of his life, and in the upcoming election he's going to crush the Copperheads into the dust...
Whew! For a moment there...
I read several on-line published eyewitness accounts by troops THERE, and I was moved, touched and inspired.
The contrast, the distinction between Bush ("I'm here to serve and honor YOU!") and Hillary ("ME First! ME EATS FIRST! Troops wait!") is stark and real.
The article in al-Ghardiyan employs spin, innuendo, embedded criticism, implicit judgment, straw-man fallacies... and huffing&puffing and rhetorical hand-waving of a most dismissive sort.
I prefer to vote on reality. (See "Churchill and Hitler")
