End-of-World postponed 'till next year...
Thanks to Matthew Hoy, a spiffy chart of sea-ice extent since 2002, when NASA's Earth Observing System (EOS) Aqua Satellite satellite was launched. The red line that ends at November is 2008. You will see that it is currently above the other lines. (Be good chaps now, and pretend you don't notice---It's for the children.)

Hello,
I'm sorry to post this comment where is doesn't belong, but I am considering installing soapstone counters in my kitchen and ran across your blog. I just wanted to ask you....after three years, do you still like them? I am very concerned about how soft they are, and I am worried about the chipping at the edges and the need for constant sanding. Any input is welcome!
Thanks.
Posted by: Susan at November 11, 2008 09:51 AMWe still love them.
No chips so far, and close to no sanding. Little scratches just seem to disappear when we oil the counters, and are probably really just scraping away some oil.
Soapstone is soft but very dense, and this seems so far to be a very durable combination. More so than I expected.
Feel free to e-mail me---the address here is slightly misspelled, to foil spam-bots. It is also on the side-bar....
