We never learn..

The news about the mass murder at Virginia Tech is very sad, For me it's extra depressing, because it's a near certainty that if people had followed my advice, given back in 2001 and subsequently, most of those people would still be alive...

Don't you think you could have waited more than a day to say "I told you so"?

Yes, by all means let's not start learning from our mistakes right away. That would be tasteless.

It's not the fact of the conversation. It's: "if people had followed my advice". Next time someone stubs their toe on a rock you told them was there, say "I told you so" immediately afterwards. See the loathing in their eyes...

Now magnify that by an infinite amount...

Yeah, truth makes people mad. Doesn't change the facts.

By the way, this guy apparently had learned the virtues of not taking orders from killers with guns, and he also knew that there were more important things than saving one's own skin. But I guess it's wrong to point that out.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled program of "wait for someone in authority to tell you what to do."

The thing is, Andrew, the chances of someone from Virginia Tech reading this today is almost zero. I just don't have that many readiers.

On the other hand, the liberals-so-called, who push in a thousand insidious ways the idea that people should be sheep, should consider themselves "victims" deserving help, should not be self-reliant and dangerous-to-provoke....well, if you guys feel uncomfortable, that's fine by me.

And if you feel sick with guilt, as you should, even better. Your policies, your party, bear the most responsibility for this massacre. You included. "Women are less than human because we don't have the ERA." So, message from Andrew: "Women should be soft snivelers who cry because they don't get taken care of."

I probably shouldn'ty get so cranky and vent on Andrew, who is mostly a sensible chap. Sorry, Andrew.

But I get so mad, becuse NO ONE'S GOING TO LEARN FROM THIS.

No major university will pause and say, "Gee, maybe we should start teaching kids to fight back when attacked. Maybe we should start teaching them to be strong, and to think of their responsibilities, instead of just about their rights."

Wait, John and Andrew, it gets worse.

Some high muckety-muck (I think it was the provost) at VT said some months ago that he was glad that the state of Virginia had banned firearms at VT, because it would make people on the campus "feel safer".

Huh?

Whatever happened to actual safety, as opposed to imagined safety?

If I were that VT official, I'd be looking for a hole to crawl into and pull in after me.

I doubt that the guy has the grace to do that, though. Feelings trump reality, doncha know. Never mind that 32 people, made defenseless by state law at the behest of VT's administration, are dead at the hands of a mass-murderer-- the VT official's heart was in the right place and that's all that matters to the Liberals.
