I'm back...

Long day, on airplanes. It's good to be home with the rest of my family.

Here's a train yard in Grand Forks. We walked up an overpass, but I was too cold to compose the picture, just aimed in the general direction and shot...I love train yards; all those horizontal lines converging in the distance are just too bewitching. And in the snow, even better.

Welcome home! So how many miles did you guys end up driving? Oh, and what kind of car, if I might ask?

We drove 2,000 miles. (Good experience if you ever think the world is getting too crowded.)

2002 Honda Civic EX. Great little car. And it was an adventure we will both remember.

...it is amazing how spread out things are out west...in 2,000 miles, I could drive to Detroit, then around Lake Erie to Toronto, then up the St. Lawrence to Montreal; and then drop down to New York City, then to Washington DC, to Richmond VA, through North Carolina, all the way to Charlotte, SC; and then back across the Smoky Mountains to Knoxville, and back home to Cincinnati - all in 2000 miles...

And yeah, great car choice...that should last him forever...
