Today's snippet...
Hugh Hewitt, in an excellent letter to Senator McCain:
...Senator, I have said this on the air and in print many times: You are a great American, a lousy senator, and a terrible Republican....
Just so.
Posted by John Weidner at July 13, 2006 06:17 AMI wonder how much being a great American makes him a terrible Republican?
Posted by: Andrew Cory at July 13, 2006 12:14 PMWow - snarky and without content - great comment! Once again changing my mind with your logical arguments...
Posted by: Ethan Hahn at July 13, 2006 12:35 PMPublic figures now have to go through certain rituals of abasement and flattery with anyone who's been in combat. This is due to Democrats repeatedly putting forward people like Cleland or Murtha or Kerry (or the Jersey Girls, or Sheehan) and saying, in effect, "If you DARE to ask any probing logical questions, we will wave the bloody shirt and claim you are chickenhawks denigrating real vets!"
It's a good tactic when you don't have any actual program that people want to vote for.
I, on the other hand, am not a public figure. I can say what I think. I think McCain was a heroic serviceman, but he is NOT a great American. His loyalty is mostly to the King of McCainlandia.
