The "real sin"
I love the way Howard Dean spotlights the total asininity and incoherence of Democrat positions...
...If Karl Rove had been indicted it would have been for perjury. That does not excuse his real sin which is leaking the name of an intelligence operative during the time of war. He doesn't belong in the White House. If the President valued America more than he valued his connection to Karl Rove then Karl Rove would have been fired a long time ago. So I think this is probably good news for the White House, but its not very good news for America....(Thanks to Dafydd)
So Karl, if this supposed leak was bad for America, wasn't the press being bad for America too? They published it. And what about those other leaks. Like leaking the existence of actual programs that are catching terrorists. I suppose they must be OK, because you never criticize them, but I'd love to hear your reasoning.
And I'm glad to hear that you do think we are in a war, and that those who impede our war efforts should be harshly criticized, and indicted for their crimes. (And if a grand jury fails its obvious duty to indict, then they should be fired!) Somehow I had picked up an impression that your position was somewhat, er, ambiguous, on this vital point.
Glad to have you on board with the war!
Posted by John Weidner at June 13, 2006 07:27 AMHaving found this site quite by accident and at the moment enjoying a few moments of free time, I'll share a little thought. Basically, this is another run-of-the-mill political weblog where the everyday half-educated American can post his particular views on political world around him. You don't know the full story, you never will. Also, I wonder why you keep referring to the United States as "America," the last time I checked the US only possessed part of the North American continent, hardly enough to say that you and you alone are Americans. I am not particularly upset with this page for any reason other than it does not impress me. If you cannot rise above the other millions of similar sites and come up with some original views or opinions that everybody hasn't heard a thousand times before, why bother? Maybe you should examine your values, explore philosphy, science, social constructionism, the arts, literature (I mean actually delve into it, not the weak attempts you already display), and perhaps strive to enrich yourself beyond your current state.

Posted by: Pablo Rodriguez at June 13, 2006 08:19 AMAnd I'm not very impressed by your comment. For instance, the fact that "America" is ambigous as a reference to the USA is a banality; this has been a problem for the last 200 years or so. Your pointng it out is sophomoric. (We should have adopted the proposed alternative, and called this country "Columbia," but it's too late now.)
Why don't you start a weblog and show us how it should be done. I'll link to your posts, if they are so much better than mine. Otherwise, your pose as a superior person and critic is just bad manners, and hints at feelings of inferiority. A truly superior person doesn't need to look for chances to show off...
Posted by: John Weidner at June 13, 2006 08:26 AMWow...Pablo, when you meet new people, do you comment on their crooked teeth and wrinkled shirts, maybe tell a girl that she looks fat in those jeans, that kind of thing?
I realize that that previous comment is rather harsh, please realize I did not intend to insult, merely to offer my opinion and advice.
Bullshit. You're not only rude, you're a liar as well.
Pablo: Your reference to "social constructionism" in your comment - I usually see that language from those who have a left-over-60s, nihilistic and Marxist worldview. I'm not surprised that you're "unimpressed" with what's going on in this (and probably other) blogs - you obviously haven't got a clue what's happening. When I see this kind of supercilious comment made I can only conclude that it's probably because the commenter is afraid that, just maybe, his or her own"social construct," based as it is on a supposedly superior education and intelligence, may not be entirely real.
Maybe you should explore essentialism.

Posted by: C. Rosack at June 13, 2006 10:28 AMHoward Dean claims that Rove 'leaked the name of an intelligence operative in a time of war'. Dean has never been very careful with words. The perjury accusation is similarly uninformed drivel.
Rove passed along a rumor - later proved to be true - that a desk jockey at Langley had used her connections to send her lying boob of a husband on a politicized junket.
Fitzgerald couldn't find a way to criminalize Rove's conduct without indicting the State Department's Richard Armitage, a liberal who had told reporters exactly the same thing in greater detail, weeks earlier. An indictment of Armitage would have ruined his case against Libby, which is on life support as it is.
Posted by: lyle at June 13, 2006 10:58 AMPablo,
Last time I checked, most Mexicans, Canadians, Brazilians, Bolivians, Peruvians, Venezuelans, (Just to name a few), don't refer to themselves as "Americans".
