"Too soon"
Ed Driscol has a fascinating post on how the elites of Hollywood and Manhattan, who are eager to "bring up subjects" when it is something that Red-State American won't like, are very unhappy to see trailers of a movie about Flight 93.
"It's too soon," they say. Yeah, right. And it was "too late" to put pictures of the WTC on the news about a day after it happened.
What it's "too soon" for is reminding people that America is at war, and that the coastal elites have decided they are not part of this country, if it is actually going to care enough about itself to fight back. (Thanks to InstaPundit)
Posted by John Weidner at April 3, 2006 07:05 AMI think it's telling that the audience reactions that were quoted were only from audiences in "blue" areas. No quotes from audiences in "red" areas, assuming the film was even shown in "red" areas (and was it deliberately not shown in "red" areas?).
Or am I seeing "conspiracies" when it's just big-media provincialness (provinciality?) at work, in not venturing beyond the confines of the big city?
Posted by: Hale Adams at April 3, 2006 11:13 AMA local talk-show host asked his listeners if anyone had seen the trailer, and their reactions to it. I heard from two, one who had guests who had lost a friend on the flight, and one who regularly ran the Flight 77 run (and was, in fact, scheduled to make the 76 reverse-run that day.)
They both said the trailer was almost overpowering, and said they were going to see the movie. (Said local talk-show host is conservative, and sometimes subs for Rush Limbaugh (though he is MUCH less polemic.))
