They can't help themselves...
AJ Strata notes another Washington Post article revealing information, from "current and former senior administration officials," about just how we collect data on terrorists. In this case, they don't even contend that anything illegal is happening...they just...well, Strata's title for his post says it all: The Media Cannot Stop Itself From Helping Our Enemies.
But he does have a suggestion of how we might fight back:
...A while ago someone suggested a way for ‘We The People’ to fight back as these treasonous liberals expose us to attack. The idea was to bring a class action law suit against the media outlets who recklessly expose our defense mechanisms to our enemies.
We don’t need to win, as much as get millions and millions of people signing up against the New York Times, Washington Post, the reporters themselves. In my opinion these companies are impairing my civil rights by exposing me and my familiy to terrorist acts. I have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and the partisan actions of these leakers is putting all of this at risk.
These are not whistleblowers. Their motivations are purely partisan politics.
Time for us to remind everyone the power is in the people. So if anyone knows how to start a law suit against these people please let us all know...
There is no hope of these people reforming or changing. They are stuck in 1973 (In General Honore's immortal phrase, stuck on stupid) and to admit error now would would be to admit their whole lives have been wasted on foolishness. They can't be changed, but they can be punished. My preference would be to give them a little time for reflection in a certain Caribbean resort I've heard of. But tangling them up in lawsuits would not be bad.

If a President compromises a successful CIA undercover operation to prevent the spread of WMD (something he has previously claimed as grounds to launch a war over), which exposes dozens of undercover agents and loses untold numbers of sources, just to get back at the husband of one of the agents for criticizing the President publicly, well, you guys have no trouble justifying that and living with it...
But when the President violates felony laws and begins widespread spying on the American people (something even Ashcroft's #2 considered illegal, as did several frequently used White House sources of legal opinion, as has the non-partisan Congressional Research Service concluded), and whistleblowers leak that fact to the press, who then sit on the story for over a year (even hiding it during a Presidential election where it might have made a difference in how people voted), then you call them traitors and literally want them dead?
You know, you guys are sick and getting sicker every day...
By the way, as regards the publishing of the White House NSA spying scandal, could someone tell me what harm the story has done to us? I mean, I don't know of anyone who says Osama bin-forgotten-by-Bush is an idiot. And since the Washington Times gave out technical details back in 1998 of how we were using his cell phone calls to zero in on him with missiles, one would think that only an idiot wouldn't realize al-Quada knows we can and do listen in on their conversations. That might explain why even Rumsfeld has said on several occasions that al-Quada operatives use codes when they talk on the phone or in messages. You know, so we won't know what they really man...
So when a newspaper writes a story saying that when we target al-Quada phone conversations, they aren't telling anyone anything they didn't already know (except, based on their reactions, conservative pundits and bloggers, who seem to have never realized this simple fact of life...no wonder we never caught bin-Laden with this crowd in charge!). The only thing that was new (and news) in the story was that Bush is ignoring FISA law and not getting a warrant...And does anyone seriously think al-Quada cares a hoot about that?
So a simple question I've never seen answered anywhere, as yet...what aid has the story about Bush not getting warrants given to our enemies?
Unless, of course, you are claiming that absolutely NO criticism or disagreement of Dear Leader is allowed in America today? Is that what you are saying? Bush is above all criticism?
'Cause if it is, let me point out to you what you are calling for is NOT America...Stalinist Russia, North Korea, but NOT America!
