Even more sweet...
BREAKING NEWS: Formal Leak Investigation - Tuesday, November 08, 2005 @ 11:25:25 AM
Look for a formal announcement from Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert within the next couple of hours on a joint House and Senate Intelligence investigation into leaks to the media and special interest groups related to the CIA imprisonment of al Qaeda terrorists overseas. (Thanks to Hugh Hewitt)
All the frauds and hypocrites of the press acted "shocked, shocked!" at the supposed outing of a CIA covert agent...but those guys routinely publish leaked classified info from their CIA pals, as part of their joint war against our elected government and the War on Terror.
Finally, finally, the good guys are starting to push back. I just hope they are serious. I hope that a bunch of reporters and publishers and CIA apparatchiks are going to be in very hot water. This is a front in the War, and those guys are on the other side...
Posted by John Weidner at November 8, 2005 06:04 PMuh...looks like it was a leak from Cheney and Rebulican Senators.
Posted by: festus at November 8, 2005 06:38 PMHmmm. Trent Lott said he guessed it was from someone at a meeting of Rep. Senators where Cheney was also present. I'll wait and see...
Maybe a Republican Senator whose name begins with a Mc? I wouldn't mind seeing him on the hot seat...

Posted by: John Lanning at November 8, 2005 11:26 PMBe careful what you ask for. I think many of the opponents of the Bush administration, myself among them, would welcome such an investigation, for the reason that Digby states:
"As Dear Leader would say, I think it's a 'faahbulous' idea to hold hearings into how the Washington Post found out that we have established an illegal gulag (yes, a gulag) in countries around the world where we are holding and torturing prisoners indefinitely and with impugnity. I hope it creates headlines every single day for months as we explore this issue of how reporters found out that we are behaving in an illegal and immoral fashion along the lines of the Soviet Union. We need to get to the bottom of how such a thing happened and if it requires days and weeks of media coverage discussing how we torture and imprison people in foreign countries, so be it.
"This Republican implosion is really becoming interesting to watch. These people lose their wits when they are forced to play defense. They think they are being clever and "turning the tables" on the Democrats by holding hearings into a leak but they apparently don't understand that they are playing right into the Democratic narrative about Republican secrecy, lies and incompetence."
