A wee quote

From Best of the Web:

Democrats love to mock the Republican base for believing the Bible is true. Democratic basemen believe "Fahrenheit 9/11" is true!...

F9/11 is true. It just doesn’t add up to anything...

Well, F 9/11 raises questions, causes people to think for themselves, and contains at least some verifiable fact.

Religion attempts to answer questions by telling people what to think, based on completely unprovable and far-fetched myth.

One does not believe F 9/11 as "gospel" because the WHOLE POINT is to get people to THINK CRITICALLY. People who take the Bible literally aren't educated enough to know how to think critically, and assume that the Left swallows Moore's conclusions as blindly as they swallow their preacher's.

And yes, all people who take the Bible literally are uneducated, dull, slavish and ignorant. There are no exceptions to that. No one with an IQ over 90 believes in Creationism. That's not to mock anyone's religion; it's just amazing that people who can so totally fail to grasp the concept of metaphor are allowed to vote and own guns.

Ah yes, the tolerant, enlightened Left.

Hey, I don't go door to door telling people they're gonna burn in hell for not believing what I do. If bible-thumpers can tell me that, why shouldn't I be allowed to call them ignorant?

Most Christians aren't "bible-thumpers," Mr. Strike. Personally, I've never seen a Christian thump a Bible. By the way, believing "the Bible is true" is not the same thing as believing it is literally true. The majority of Christians 1) don't go around telling people they are going to "burn in hell" for not believing exactly like they do, and 2) have a variety of approaches to the "truth" of the Bible. There are ignorant Christians, of course, just as there are ignorant people in all walks of life. This does not make your personal experience with ignorant Christians true for every occasion.

And you are quite free to call anyone who bothers you by thumping bibles and telling you you're going to hell "ignorant," just as I am free to tell someone who thinks that Fahrenheit 9/11 was a documentary that reveals the truth about the events leading up to September 11th an idiot.
