FEMA, OK, have at 'em. Tear them apart...
From the Corner at NRO:
OVERWORKED TAXPAYER RELIEF WORKERS [Kate O'Beirne]Posted by John Weidner at September 8, 2005 03:12 PM | TrackBackThe Washington Waste Watchers, organized by Rep. Tom Feeney of Florida and other conservative members of the House, promise to be among the busiest workers in Katrina's aftermath. Following the 9/11 attacks, the group tracked FEMA "mental health" spending for victims in Virginia that funded multicultural dialogues, theatre workshops, and "a yearlong celebration of trees, gardens , and other healing spaces." After a Feeney floor speech questioning a "personal growth class based on mindful meditation techniques" some of the questionable programs were cancelled. May Tom Feeney's ranks grow...
Actually the goal isn't to tear FEMA apart, far from it. The goal is to remove the political hacks and cronys whose only experience was making political commericals, soliciting bribes from rich horse breeders, and the like, and return FEMA to a level of professionalism such as it had under James Lee Witt.
And I'd think anyone who pretends they are conservative would wholeheartedly agree. If we are to be even remotely prepared for the next terrorist attack, we need an agency that can do its job and do it well. Under Brown and his cronys, we know they can't cut it. Worse, even with 4 years of preparation they were unpreparated. A terrorist attack won't give them 3 days warning, like a hurricane did.
