"Though the heart be still as loving, And the moon be still as bright"

SO WE'LL GO NO MORE A ROVING

So, we'll go no more a roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And Love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,
Yet we'll go no more a roving
By the light of the moon.

--Lord Byron (1788-1824)

You are right--I hadn't thought of that.

Actually, I have software that does ceaseless battle against Comment Spam. (A realm of parasitism most people aren't even aware of) I'm surprised it let you post the words--it must be more sophisticated than I realize...

Leonard Cohen's new album opens with this poem set to music, and the now-standard super-bass Leonard rumble...it, and the cover of Tennessee Waltz, are the highlights for me...
