I hasten to add that in a place as backwards and poor as Afghanistan, there's a high likelihood that things will go wrong. I know that—and if it does, you "Democrats" and Kerry-supporters are welcome to chide my naivete as you hug yourselves with joy. But that won't change the fact that you've missed the History Train.
