Book people will understand ...

I enjoyed this snippet, from Andrew

...Anyway, as I was chatting with my Girlfriend yesterday about household stuff, I said “let’s mingle our books”

She got a shocked look on her face.

“What” Said I “do you not think we are ready to have our books on the same shelves, organized in together?”

“Well, I don’t know. I mean, its such a big step”....

Never mind organizing your books together, I find it kind of daunting to think of organizing your books at all.

To hell with "his" and "her" towels. After 17 years of marrage, its still separate shelves. Chick lit should never mix with engineering texts!

One must maintain one's standards.

Biased
I'm very lucky--Our book tastes here overlap by about 80 or 90%

Too right. Most books belong in 2 or 3 places, so I leave them chaotic so as not to hurt their feelings or have to make hard choices. Fortunately Charlene is a librarian-at-heart...

We have a very simple system: paperback fiction, alpha by author. No genres. Anything bigger is sorted by where we have room to put it.

Now, if only we had bookshelves...

(over 700 pounds of books, and no bookshelves. This sucks.)

As a cabinetmaker, I love hearing people say, "if only we had bookshelves."

Many of my jobs start with someone saying, "We moved in a year ago, and I've still got 30 boxes of books in the basement..."
